This department is charged with the ``humanistic education'' of the students in science and medicine. It gives introductory courses in philosphy of science, epistemology, history of science, morality, pscyhology and the religious sciences. By this education, it hopes to sustain reflection on the ethical, social, educational, institutional, political, economic, religious and symbolic dimensions of science and technology.
