Trees in the wild are never pruned, yet they often have long healthy lives. In a natural setting, their branches develop a balance and form typical of the species. It is when trees are brought into an urban situation that correct pruning becomes so important. Pruning is both a skill and an art. This publication discusses how to prune trees properly. Topics include what and when to prune, equipment and technique, training the young tree and pruning the older tree.Series/Report no.
