An Unacceptable Nearness explores themes of proximity, distance, identity, and memory. This original collection of poetry continually tugs at language and experience, unraveling words and meanings to find the relationships hidden beneath the accepted surface. The poems move from the mundane to the cosmic, continually pointing back to the emotional, experiential, and perceptual distances that estrange us from ourselves and the places we inhabit. This writing comes from out of daily experience, from the continuous, distracting noise of a coffee shop to those unsettling silences in which we encounter some reflection of ourselves. Circling and weaving layers upon itself, the collection celebrates the fluidity of language and the complexities of human experience.Type
