AbstractMathematical models for rotary lip seals is developed to study the basic stability and dynamic response of the lip seals. In this thesis, a linear stability analysis is performed to find the stability characteristics of such a mechanical system. Then, a finite element algorithm for the numerical integration of the system of coupled differential equations governing the dynamic behavior of the lip seals is presented.
