This study examines the implementation of a university-level, modified adjunct course (Precourse) in the content-area of literature. I utilize a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to: (a) explore the factors which influence English as a Second Language (ESL) students' learning experiences in this Precourse, and (b) assess the effectiveness of the Precourse for developing second language (L2) proficiency and academic competence.Type
