An outline of the general theory of thermoelectricity is resented along with a study of the feasibility of a thermoelectrically-driven saline water distillation unit. From an analysis based on specific operating conditions, which are likely to be found in such a unit, the general conclusion is that the proposed unit is feasible. The energy cost of distillation by this method is found to be comparable to other present methods.Type
