The purpose of this study is to provide a history of the development of jazz tuba performance from 1940 until 2010. The history consists of profiles of jazz tubists that developed or participated in new styles of jazz tuba performance. Musical figures are provided for different decades of change. Figures are taken from the original scores or transcribed from recordings and analyzed to highlight advancements.Type
