Sarcastic Fringhead is a symphonic poem for symphony orchestra. It is scored for a large orchestra of triple winds. The work is chromatically contrapuntal throughout. The rhythmic independence of the twenty-four parts requires an orchestra of professional standards. It is approximately fifteen minutes in duration. The piece is comprised of ten sections, which are performed without pause, and are all related by material. This symphonic poem reflects the character and determination of the small, pugnacious, saltwater fish, Neoclinus blanchardi. American composer, Professor Daniel Asia advised the development of this project.Type
