Leucophyllums for Southern Arizona LandscapesLeucophyllum is a member of the family Scrophulariaceae and includes 12 species which occur in extreme southern New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. Leucophyllum frutescens was in cultivation in southern Arizona in the early 1940's and only recently have new species been cultivated. Seven species and their cultivars are discussed with specific reference to descriptions, culture, identification, and distribution. Each species is distinct and all are highly recommended for landscape use.
