A simple yet efficient class of coding systems employed extensively in coding correlated sources is the DPCM and delta modulation systems. We will study the performance of the adaptive and the simple delta modulators at high sampling rates and will compare that to the performance of well designed DPCM systems. The results are obtained by simulating the coding systems on a digital computer and using them to encode the components of a color video signal.Sponsors
