| dc.description.abstract | The magnetic recording process using ac bias is reviewed and applied in a discussion of recording heads. The difficulties in obtaining a sharp gradient are explained. A new magnetic recording head that overcomes the weaknesses of conventional heads is described and compared with the conventional ring core head. Performance data are listed and show improvement in frequency response, decrease in harmonic and intermodulation distortion, reduced electronics and higher reliability. | |
