In suppressed-carrier AM-baseband systems, the process of synthesizing carriers necessary for demodulation usually constitutes a difficult problem, especially when noise or recorder flutter is present. In this paper a particular scheme1, which synthesizes a demodulation carrier directly from a DSB/SC signal, is investigated for the purpose of determining the effect of noise and recorder flutter upon each of the various elements in the carrier synthesis loop. Curves are presented which illustrate the relationship between phase error in the demodulation carrier and various system parameters.Sponsors
