The U. S.-German joint Helios Program is briefly presented with emphasis upon the Spacecraft Telecommunications System design and Ground Tracking and Data System. The design constraints for the radio system, and some tradeoff considerations germane to the Helios radio system are discussed. The block diagram, major performance parameters and some test results are given as bases for the understanding of more detailed telecommunications system discussions.Sponsors
