The Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) is approaching launch readiness, with operations scheduled to commence in 1983. This paper describes TDRSS including the commercial communications or Advanced Westar (AW) components and the launch, network, and test elements being employed to bring the system to operational readiness for user support.
