During test and checkout of Space Shuttle systems, data is transmitted from test sites to processing centers via overland transmission lines and communication satellite. Loss of data (dropouts) may take place and can be attributed to a malfunction at the transmitting end, the receiving end or the transmission path itself. Before effective trouble shooting can begin, the cause must be isolated to a particular area or unit. The PCM Dropout Indicator is one of the devices used for this task.Sponsors
