AbstractThe introduction of TDMA into satellite communications links increases the complexity of satellite onboard communications path routing circuitry. This paper discusses two different design approaches to the control electronics of an onboard TDMA satellite switching center. One approach uses custom large-scale integrated (LSI) circuitry; the other is microprocessor based. The two designs are compared, and an optimal hardware configuration is developed.
