The objective of the Metric Video program at the Naval Weapons Center is to achieve photographic film speeds and resolution with video camera and recording techniques. By combining a phase controlled shutter with a standard high quality video camera, a system has been developed that produces well defined images suitable for determining accurate and instantaneous measurement of time versus motion. The new synchronized shuttered video cameras are replacing motion picture cameras which use expensive film and require considerable time to produce an image for data analysis.Sponsors
