Marine C/A GPS receiver position data has been collected for about two years by the USCG and TAMU researchers aboard the R/V Gyre. Recent studies show results obtained with USGS personnel from Woods Hole. The USGS personnel were onboard the Gyre for a short cruise from Tampa, Florida to Maine investigating LORAN C properties and accuracies in comparison with GPS and Transit. These studies were made to identify cause of large biases previously reported between LORAN C and GPS in the first phase of the TAMU/USCG research effort. Equipments used in this test were a Magnavox GPS Z-set, Internav 404 LORAN C, Tracor Omega, and Magnavox Transit receivers.Sponsors
