The risk for nutritional problems and the nutritional profiles of 40 community living women and men were examined utilizing assessment tools from the National Nutrition Screening Initiative (NNSI). Women and men over sixty years of age were asked to complete questionnaires concerning dietary patterns, living environments, income and education levels. Differences in nutritional risk scores of elderly women and men were not statistically significant. Eating behavior scores among women and men from the nutritional profiles questionnaire were significanctely different at the p<.05 level. Correlations between total risk scores and eating behaviors were statistically significant for both groups. Correlations between living environment and risk scores was also significant for the men tested. Multiple regression analysis revealed significant differences in eating behaviors and living environment between men and women and significant differences in the interaction between gender and risk assessment total scoresen_US
