Chamber Symphony for 13 Players and Electronics is an original composition of approximately seventeen minutes in length that features thirteen solo instrumentalists and electronics. The piece showcases two types of sound production (acoustic and electroacoustic), both in conflicting and harmonious ways. Electronics are made from recorded and synthesized sound. They are arranged as fixed media for stereo playback and each sound file is performed in real time with the ensemble using the program Max/MSP. This piece was heavily influenced by many experiences in the composer’s life, but Chamber Symphony can be understood in many different ways and not just how the composer understands it. We all have experiences from tragedy to transcendence, though everyone has them in their own time. Hopefully, there is something in Chamber Symphony that speaks to everyone.
