Abstract“Payment Transaction System Using QR Codes” (also called “Microsoft QR Codes For Good”) is the name of the project completed by Team 18080 for the University of Arizona’s Engineering Design Day 2019. The purpose is to create a payment system based on QR codes, designed to help people who rely on donations or tips for an income. Since people are unlikely to carry cash on them, it is inconvenient for them make donations. So, this project creates a single ended transaction system where a person can send money simply by scanning a QR code with their phone, and the person receiving money only needs to have a printout of their code. The system is primarily made of two components: a backend server that communicates with a database and payment processor to process transactions, and front end user interfaces, including a website and mobile application, which communicate with the server to send and receive data. For the project, the team received the award for Best System Software Design during Design Day 2019.
