Time Of Burning As It Affects Soil Moisture in an Ordinary Upland Bluestem Prairie in the Flint HillsAnderson, K. L. (Society for Range Management, 1965-11-01)Burning bluestem range reduces soil moisture. Study of long-continued annual burning in the winter and at various spring dates shows that earliest burnings cause greatest reductions. Foot-by-foot moisture levels in the upper 5 feet of soil during a 4-year period are considered.
