A method was developed to provide ecologists with an objective and efficient means for point sampling horizontal cover. This method produced estimates significantly (p < 0.05) more precise than cover pole and checkerboard methods, reducing variability among observers. The new method was significantly (p < 0.05) faster, than the other techniques. Factors affecting variability of measurements were reviewed.Type
