dc.description.abstract | Transient Tangents for an orchestra, is the original musical composition in one continuous movement of approximately eighteen minutes in length featuring a standard symphonic orchestra with forces of 3333, 4331, timpani, 3 percussions, harp, piano, strings. A composition draws on and connects to the cornucopian legacy of symphonic music of the past, but without projecting a three-movement structure or utilizing a sonata form. Instead, it is a continuous variation, but not on a theme but set of generated harmonies — interspersed with various metro-rhythmic departures — and taking of building vertical structure from small melodic cells as its general subject. | |
