Arthropods Associated with Two Crested Wheatgrass Pastures in Central Montana

Abstract

Two pastures of crested wheatgrass in central Montana were surveyed for arthropods from May 10 through September 30, 1972, and 1973. A vacuum quick trap and the bagging of individual plants showed that five groups of arthropods were important on the basis of abundance and above-ground biomass: grasshoppers, ants, leafhoppers, thrips, and mites. Adults of the first three groups were identified to species.
