Two pastures of crested wheatgrass in central Montana were surveyed for arthropods from May 10 through September 30, 1972, and 1973. A vacuum quick trap and the bagging of individual plants showed that five groups of arthropods were important on the basis of abundance and above-ground biomass: grasshoppers, ants, leafhoppers, thrips, and mites. Adults of the first three groups were identified to species.Type
