The effect of cotton-bur mulch and manure on the establishment and growth of 13 selected grasses was measured. Mulch decreased the number of seedlings during the first growing season, but the number of established plants was increased at the end of the second growing season. Plant height was increased, even after 2 years, by a post-plant application of manure. After 2 years, six of the original 13 species had a satisfactory stand.Type
