AbstractWater and nitrogen were added separately and in combination to loamy upland bluestem range for four years. Plots were clipped at different dates. Moisture addition generally failed to increase total herbage yields, but supplemental nitrogen increased yields substantially. Nitrogen addition increased cool-season species in the stand. Moisture use was increased by nitrogen addition and reduced by clipping.
