dc.description.abstract | In addition to growing timber, pine-hardwood forests of the South produce food for white-tailed deer. The food yields, and thus deer populations, are governed by timber stand density, frequency of timber cuttings, size and distribution of harvest cutting units, and application of prescribed burning. | |
