dc.description.abstract | Progressive ranching is contrasted with traditional pastoralism in an effort to show how lagging rangelands might contribute more to economies of emerging countries. This is done by illustrating one rancher's success in overcoming the handicaps that limit tropical livestock production. Grassland potential and problems of rangeland development in East Africa are also considered. | |
