This research stems from the Ecofeminist theory and the Ethics of Care theory to analyze, from these theoretical frames, the consequences of extreme environmental damage in the Sacrifice Zones in Chile, especially in the Quintero-Puchuncavi area. Elements of Latin American neo-extractivism approach are taken to explain the emergence of the Sacrifice Zones in the localcontext of institutional and legal weakness in environmental matters in Chile. One of the phenomena associated with this new mechanism of intensive exploitation of natural resources is also analyzed: territorial social conflicts with a gender perspective. In this case, the movement of ‘Women in Resistance of the Quintero Sacrifice Zone -Puchuncavi’ will be analyzed from their own voices, investigating their personal and collective motivations as environmental activists, their possible closeness to feminist movements and their perception of environmental damage from the exercise of gender roles associated with caring for the family and home, in their own experiences as women and as caregivers.Type
