OPEN BOOK: The Podcast is a place where everyone tells their story. Stemming from my love of reading, talking, and asking too many questions, I serve as the host of the podcast and introduce listeners to a new, unique human being in each episode. In my time at the University of Arizona, I studied several things. I will be graduating with my B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, my B.A. in Communications and a double minor in Journalism and Public Relations. This podcast was my way to combine my love of the arts and my love of journalism. In the fall semester, I met with my advisor, Hank Stratton, to discuss the premise of the podcast and to discuss technical elements such as a podcasting microphone, a hosting platform, and editing software. In the spring semester, the writing and interviewing took place. My advisor and I discussed different guests as well as different angles to make the conversations interesting and interactive. I conducted my interviews over Zoom, edited the audio files myself, and uploaded them to hosting platform, Anchor, to be distributed to Spotify and Apple Podcasts. The product is three podcast episodes ranging from 30 minutes to an hour long that tell the stories of different artists all on different paths. As I am about to begin my career in journalism, this project was an invaluable experience and the perfect way to combine all of my passions and culminate my four years at the University of Arizona.Type
