    Abstract
    EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This project will consist of the expansion and improvement of Grant Road from Mountain Avenue to Country Club Road. Grant Road serves as one of the main arteries of the city of Tucson connecting the entire city from East to West. PROJECT OVERVIEW: Major improvements to be constructed on this project include: Widening current five lane road to six-lane, urban collector roadway with a center median, two 10’-0” wide lanes and one 11’-0” wide lane, 6’-0” paved bike lane, and 6’-0” sidewalks in each direction. Improvements to the horizontal and vertical alignments of the roadway including elimination of any sub-standard curves and line-of-sight conditions. Devoted left and right turn lanes Improved traffic control elements and signal timing, increasing the intersection Level of Service to a minimum level of D. New and improved drainage structures including catch basins and cross drainage conveyance. ADA accessible sidewalks and improved bike lanes with a buffer from the roadway for improved pedestrian and cyclist safety. ADA accessible pedestrian bridge at intersection of Grant Road and Country Club Road. EXISTING CONDITIONS: Existing conditions were recorded throughout numerous site visits from members of Vulcan Engineering. The existing roadway, drainage, and residential structures are outlined in the following sections. ROADWAY DESIGN FEATURES: The widening and redesign of Grant Road from Mountain Avenue to Country Club Road was designed with the intention of improving traffic capacity in response to increased traffic demand while also decreasing cue times, increasing safety, and providing ADA accessibility. COMPLETING THE PROJECT: This DCR document consists of Vulcan Engineering’s 15% completed designs of the Grant Road widening and expansion project.
