The cabaret, “This is Us” is a performance-based thesis that is a mixture of Blanc 2 contemporary musical theatre artists, pop songs, and carefully crafted dialogue. My partner for this cabaret was Paige Anne Mills, and we have spent the past four years cultivating a performance that intertwines our stories through song and speech. The thesis is Tuesday, May 11th at 7p.m. in the brand-new Marshall Plaza. This is a 45-minute, non-stop performance with a series of songs that portrays both my individual journey through college and my shared journey with Paige. We were able to capture the essence of our past with our future plans through the lens of art. Paige and I are planning to move to New York in the fall, and this thesis has offered incredible preparation for the coming chapter. With the help of our incredible thesis advisor Danny Gurwin, we were able to partner with Arizona Arts, the Marshall Plaza space, and a lighting and sound team to help out thesis come together. We also partnered with the marketing team of the Theatre department in order to utilize social media to spread the word. Due to COVID-19, the audience was capped to 30 of our closest group of family, friends, and professors that have impacted our artistic journey. Crafting this cabaret proved to be both challenging and rewarding, but very worth it.Type
