SUSTAINABILITY’S IMPACT ON BUSINESS & PROFIT: AN EXPLORATION OF BEST PRACTICES IN 3 CASE STUDIES

Abstract

This Senior Honors Thesis combines a business plan for ProStraw Supplements, sustainability plan, and an independent research report on sustainability’s impact on business and profit. ProStraw Supplements is a health and nutrition company that plans on creating an innovative protein-packed eco-friendly straw targeting the 25+ million active gym-goers throughout the United States. The ProStraw Supplements team consists of myself -- Jacob Rose – as well as Avnish Bhattrai, Kaden Frazier, and Jacob Gray. The business plan provides an in-depth analysis of the problem the company is trying to solve, industry and market analysis, and information regarding our operations and financial projections. The sustainability plan for ProStraw Supplements describes the way the company plans to positively contribute to sustainability goals and initiatives. Lastly, the thesis itself provides an in-depth analysis of the role sustainability plays in business and utilizes 3 case studies to support the argument made. Overall, my experience as a member of the University of Arizona Honors College and the McGuire New Venture Development Program is something that I will never forget. I met many amazing like- minded individuals and learned many valuable insights that I will carry with me forever. I was really glad that the honors seminar, ENTR 420L, was focused on sustainability, as I believe that topic is of the upmost importance in today’s society. I genuinely enjoyed these experiences and I am excited to see what the future holds now that I am armed with the knowledge these programs have provided.
