dc.description.abstractTwice as many babies die each year from Twin-to-Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) and Twin Anemia Polycythemia Sequence (TAPS) than from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). That said, the general population is more aware of SIDS and other fetal complications than they are of TTTS and TAPS (Fetal Health Foundation). Ultrasound technology plays a vital role in the diagnosis of these conditions, however, specific screening for TTTS and TAPS has yet to become a part of routine prenatal examinations. Thus, the aim of this literature review is to present a clear understanding of TTTS and TAPS, highlighting the similarities and differences between them, their etiologies, diagnostic criteria, possible treatments, and prognoses, as well as the importance of specific screening for these conditions. With better understanding of TTTS and TAPS, better outcomes can be achieved due to earlier detection andintervention.
