Depression is the term used to generalize certain mood disorders. This concept of psychopathology is known to create changes and distressing symptoms in how one thinks, feels, handles daily activities, physical wellness, and social behaviors. These symptoms, at times, are severe to the point of threatening an individual's life. Research has found that some interventions are more harmful than helpful—an alternative intervention to balance out the adverse effects of inadequate therapies is necessary. The purpose of this literature review is to discuss the damaging effects of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) on severe depression and propose different interventions. Throughout the study, there will be vast information regarding outstanding developments and revolutionary findings within psychopathology, which has led to the conclusion of alternative intervention techniques for serve depression.
