The goal of this project is to collaboratively design and plan a roadway expansion for Quail Crossing Blvd in Sahuarita, AZ. To accomplish this, different leads were selected for each part of the project and tasked with designing their respective parts. There were eight different area of focus needed for the design of this project: project management, roadway design, traffic analysis and design, drainage and hydraulic design, geotechnical design, structural design, environmental analysis, and construction management. The following capstone will focus on how each of these different areas were designed and will provide the recommended design at these points. This includes details on how the project is to be managed, some of the issues that the project might encounter, the design analysis of the project site, and all of the recommendations for design and construction of the project. This project is for the widening of a roadway in Sahuarita. The current roadway is a 1.7-mile-long road that runs from Nogales Hwy to Old Nogales Hwy. Our recommendation is to add two additional travel lanes, add a median between the two directions of travel, improve the intersections at Nogales Hwy and Old Nogales Hwy, and expand the bridge currently passing over the Santa Cruz River to four lanes to accommodate the two additional lanes of travel.Type
