This thesis highlights the growing prevalence of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) and its critical role in an organization achieving their environmental sustainability initiatives. While SSCM initiatives are often viewed as a financial investment with limited monetary benefits, this thesis aims to make a financially motivated case for organizations to implement SSCM. The report discusses the urgent threat of climate change and the economic benefits of SSCM. The adoption of SSCM practices can drive operational cost savings, provide compliance with environmental regulations and opportunities for competitive advantages from going beyond compliance, improved brand reputation and marketability, allow for long term natural resource sustainability, and help save the environment, all while positively impacting an organization’s bottom line. The thesis argues that SSCM is not only necessary for individual organizations to improve their competitive advantages but also for the long-term benefit and survival of the global supply chain, organizations, the economy, and all of humanity. In conclusion, the thesis emphasizes the importance of sustainable supply chain management to combating climate change and increasing long-term supply chain and organizational profits.Type
