Accurate identification of aphid species is essential for effective management in desert produce systems. This guide provides a pictorial key to the five major aphid species commonly found on lettuce and other leafy vegetables, including lettuce aphid, green peach aphid, potato aphid, foxglove aphid, and currant-lettuce aphid. Diagnostic characteristics of both alate and apterous forms are illustrated to assist pest control advisors in field identification and treatment decisions. Rapid recognition can lead to more timely and effective pest control interventions.Language
