For my capstone honors project, I focused on researching and curating bass clarinet repertoire that is largely unrecorded and underrepresented. Advanced high school and undergraduate bass clarinetists often face significant challenges in finding music that suits their skill level while offering sufficient information to make informed choices about what to play. My project addresses this gap by creating a comprehensive website featuring a curated repertoire list designed to aid students in discovering and selecting high-quality bass clarinet music. As part of the project, I recorded two previously unrecorded pieces: Sessionography by Lori Ardovino and Canto XXIII by Samuel Adler. These recordings provide much-needed reference material for these works. This project was inspired by my own experiences as a student when I found it difficult to locate an accessible and well-documented advanced repertoire. Through this initiative, I aim to make exceptional bass clarinet music more accessible and to support aspiring bass clarinetists in expanding their musical horizons. The final website serves as both a resource for students and educators and a means of highlighting overlooked gems in the bass clarinet repertoire. I want to empower future players to explore and excel with confidence.Type
