There is emerging research that suggests that there is a relationship between hearing loss and cognitive decline, particularly regarding how hearing loss can hasten the rate of cognitive decline. The purpose of this project was to examine the literature on this topic and to accomplish two objectives. The first objective is to investigate if there is a relationship between hearing loss and cognitive decline. If there is a relationship between the two, to what degree of severity does the relationship exist? The second objective is to examine the literature to determine if a relationship between hearing aid use and the maintenance of cognitive abilities has been identified.Type
